In and Out of Youth and Lightness
Link
In and Out of Youth and Lightness shows the continued growth from Old Wounds. Leaving behind a tip of the hat to the Jesus Lizard, Young Widows have created a unique album defining their own sound. Enjoy!

12 String Meditiation for Jack Rose
Link
"Appearing as part of VDSQ’s ‘Solo Acoustic’ series, this latest from Sonic Youth main-man Thurston Moore is notable not just because it’s ‘unplugged’, but also due to the fact that it pays tribute to Moore’s friend Jack Rose. Rose’s chosen discipline was the 12 string guitar, so it seems fitting that Moore should gravitate towards that hallowed instrument for a dedication. The music itself is tempered and melancholy but has enough of Moore’s distinctive playing style in there to drag SY fans in from the cold. Even when playing without a pedal board and large (occasionally faulty) amps, Moore’s patented grit shines through above all else. Hitting the strings with a studied punkishness just about makes up for the lack of electrical accompaniment and I am left struggling to think of a better tribute to Rose’s legacy. Even though Moore might be using the 12 string guitar, at no point does ’12 String Meditations…’ ever sound like he's attempting to replicate Rose’s style, rather this is a Moore album through and through, and as sincere and as heartfelt as they come."-Boomkat

Irrlicht
Link
Irrlicht: Quadrophonische Symphonie für Orchester und E-Maschinen is Klaus Schulze's debut solo release in 1972. Prior to Timewind and Moondawn, Schulze mainly used a broken and modified electric organ, a recording of a classical orchestra rehearsal played backward, and a damaged amplifier to filter and alter sounds that he mixed on tape into a three-movement symphony, the whole recording was done without any synthesizer. Enjoy!

A I A: Dream Loss/Alien Observer
Dream Loss
Alien Observer
New series of EP's from Grouper:
“Dream Loss is a collection of older songs, mostly written before a hard time. Alien Observer, for the most part, is made of songs recorded after that time. Each has a song that belongs thematically on the other, a seam stitching them together. Both albums… explore otherness. Being an other to one’s own self, to other humans; ghosts and aliens, both literal and metaphorical; and other worlds to escape to (beneath the water, in the sky). Thinking about people who have died… The process of making these albums reacquainted me with what I want to explore in music: friction, exploration of something large and outside of me, describing and traveling to intangible objects and places, unseen movements and connections between people and spaces. Songs that move on their own, that have an autonomous monstrous quality, songs from another world.”-Liz Harris

Lucifer Rising
Link
"Jimmy Page was commissioned to write the soundtrack music for the film Lucifer Risingby another occultist and Crowley admirer, underground movie director Kenneth Anger. Page ultimately produced 23 minutes of music which Anger felt was insufficient because the film ran for 28 minutes and Anger wanted the film to have a full soundtrack. Anger claimed Page took three years to deliver the music, and the final product was only 23 minutes of droning. The director also slammed the guitarist in the press by calling him a "dabbler" in the occult and an addict, and being too strung out on drugs to complete the project." The Charles Manson family ended up finishing the soundtrack to the final film, while in prison. Drones from the master himself, Enjoy!

Force of Truth or Lies
Link
Strength Through Joy is neo-folk from Australia which strikingly resembles early 90's Death in June. STJ was signed by Douglas Pierce himself. Though very similar in sound, this album is one of my favorites in the neo-folk genre. Enjoy.

Red Barked Tree
Wire has come a long way with many changes since the punk days of Pink Flag to the 80's pop of A Bell Is A Cup Until It Is Struck . Saying that, anything Wire has ever released has been solid. Their latest Red Barked Tree is simply a great indie-rock album and probably their best since reforming again in early 2000's. Those looking for the energy and experimental post-punk of early Wire, won't be finding it here, but will find am enjoyable rock album with catchy hooks and uniqueness in sound that Wire always delivers.

Psychic Funeral
Synthesist
Link
Incredible debut album from Harald Grosskopf. After recording drums on classic sessions for the Cosmic Jokers, Tarot, Ashra and Klaus Schulze, Grosskopf delivered Synthesist in 1980 filled with rhythmic, atmospheric synthscapes synth work that I would say rivals Tangerine Dream or Schulze . Highly recommended. Enjoy.
